Affirmation

Every time I go to my parents home in Connecticut, I reaffirm that I love trees and breezes, and big houses with big windows.
I also reaffirm that I severely dislike loud children. SEVERELY. The neighbors seem to like to have barbecues every single weekend, and they'll invite lots of families with their kids. They'll play on the swingset and shout at each other. That's fine. But when they start to literally scream, like the shrill scream of a woman about to get eviscerated, then I start to feel a little high strung. And when that goes on for hours, I start to get a migraine. Yes, a literal migraine.
Finally, after the three weeks before I started work and the several weekends of it afterwards, I got fed up. Today I walked on over and put a bright big smile on my face. I introduced myself and apologized for intruding. They offered me some wine. I declined and told them I was "trying to get some work done." Of course, in truth, my work includes...er...playing video games that I haven't touched in a few months. But still, I just want them to stop screaming. One of the guests walked away saying, "Uh oh, we're in trouble now!" And the guy said, "OK, we'll move them over to tne farther swingset" (which they didn't) and then decided to criticize me and say, "Why don't you try coming over just to introduce yourself next time?" Douche. Bag. And the kids are still yelling, but at least they aren't screaming...
And I should add - I heard one of the guests saying while I was walking away, "We should get them to be as loud as we can." Okay, how old are you? You have children? What they hell kind of parent are you?
